Over BBC News, Costa Rica ended its decades of diplomatic ties with a long time ally, Taiwan, in exchange to China's offer of "astronomical figure" of investments to Costa Rica. This decision on the part of Costa Rican government to strengthen its diplomatic ties with China was necessary for "economic reasons", according to Costa Rican President Oscar Arias.
China, a member of G8+5, a group of most powerful countries in terms of military strength and economic standings worldwide refuses to deal with countries that recognize Taiwan as it continue to defy Chinas' political and economic policies.
As huge investments coming from the "Great Wall" start to dominate Costa Rican market, the country's economy is expected to soar to greater heights never before experienced in the Costa Rican history.
Today, Costa Rica is considered as one of the best tourist destinations in Central America and is known for its pristine and beautiful coastlines. Its advancing real estate, growing tourism and other areas of economic growth impressed Chinese investors as they see a gold mine and very lucrative market and huge opportunity for profit.
